We’ve got work to do
Yesterday, Americans across the country participated in the 60th Presidential election since our Constitution was ratified in 1788. Many of us were concerned about potential violence, but thankfully, we saw a peaceful process. Despite foreign actors’ attempts to disrupt the election through bomb threats and cyber-attacks, our nation’s resilience shone through. Americans made their voices heard.
The Chamberlain Network’s mission to empower veterans to defend democracy has never been more urgent. With last night’s results, our commitment to protecting democratic principles in our communities must only grow stronger.
The incoming administration has made clear, through initiatives like Project 2025, its intent to reshape America’s governing institutions. Their proposed path concentrates power and uses our laws and institutions in ways that will challenge our democratic values. This includes threats to use the National Guard for internal enforcement, to use the Insurrection Act against political opponents, and to weaponize the Department of Justice against dissenting voices. These actions, combined with efforts targeting vulnerable communities—immigrants, LGBTQ individuals, and others—signal a troubling agenda.
Our response?
We organize.
Locally.
We mobilize veterans to be defenders of democracy right where they live.
Expect to see immediate action: we will convene working calls to start building networks of veterans and allies within communities nationwide. Over the next two years, The Chamberlain Network will lead efforts to defend democracy, yes, but to go on offense and to offer Americans a brighter vision.
While we’ll remain nimble to respond to issues as they arise, our priorities include:
Opposing domestic deployment of the military
Continuing to speak out against political violence
Using the veteran voice to support individuals – including federal employees, immigrants, and LGBTQ communities – and the civic institutions that make our country strong
This work won’t be easy, but our dedication to America and its democracy is unwavering. And we’ll look to you - our community - for guidance on where we most urgently need to focus our collective energy. As veterans, we know the importance of showing up and making a difference. Together, we’ll support our communities, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that every American’s voice can be heard without fear or intimidation.
We can’t do this work alone. We’re grateful for your continued support. We encourage you to share our work with like-minded colleagues and consider making a gift at this critical time.
