Amplifying veteran voices as trusted messengers: TCN Founder Chris Purdy profiled in The Hill

Founder of The Chamberlain Network Chris Purdy was profiled in The Hill, detailing the urgent need for veteran and volunteer organizing to safeguard and uphold our democratic institutions.

On why this is the right moment for an organization like The Chamberlain Network — focused on democracy building through local chapters of involved veterans and volunteers — Purdy shared “Today, we see crisis after crisis that causes many Americans to lose faith in democratic institutions. We need people — veterans — to go out and say, ‘No, democracy works,’”

Emphasizing the non-partisan nature of this effort, Purdy explained “our program is built around this idea that we’re opposing people who want to sow distrust in the democratic process and want to try to dismantle the democratic norms that we have.”

Despite the immediate focus on the 2024 election, Purdy notes that The Chamberlain Network is preparing for a multi-year effort. “I think we are, unfortunately, in a generational struggle for our democratic norms. And we need to build systems to adapt to that.”
