The Elected Official Pledge
I am an elected official. Entrusted by the American voters to honorably and honestly carry out the duties of my office, and faithfully support and defend the laws of the United States.
As an elected official, I acknowledge the special trust and fidelity placed in me by my fellow Americans.
Acknowledging this special trust, and the duty I am sworn to uphold, I do hereby state and pledge the following:
I am deeply concerned about the rise in political violence. Such violence threatens the foundations of our democracy and the rule of law.
I commit to rejecting violence as a means to political ends.
I commit to ending divisive rhetoric, designed to fracture our political community.
I commit to resolving our differences peacefully through democratic processes.
By signing this pledge, I commit myself to upholding these principles. I take responsibility for defending and safeguarding democracy. And finally I commit to working together with and alongside my fellow Americans to build a stronger more United America.
